314 more test positive for COVID-19

  • Total patient count rises to 90,514, includes 85,904 from triple cluster
  • 2,905 persons under medical care, recoveries rise to 87,058

A total of 314 persons tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, pushing the country’s total COVID-19 patient count to 90,514.

The patients detected yesterday include 258 associates of the Peliyagoda cluster and 16 persons linked to the Prisons cluster. The Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda, and Prisons COVID-19 clusters have thus risen to 85,904.

The local COVID-19 cases also include 950 Navy personnel and their contacts and 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre from currently inactive clusters.

In terms of imported cases, 2,464 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad and 193 foreigners are among the country’s total COVID-19 patient count.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 2,905 persons are currently under medical care. This includes 115 persons at the Krishnapuram Treatment Centre, 114 persons at the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital, and 112 persons at the Embilipitiya Treatment Centre.Hospitals are also monitoring 410 persons suspected of having COVID-19.

The Epidemiology Unit adds that 299 persons were discharged from hospitals yesterday having recovered from COVID-19. This includes 25 persons from the Embilipitiya Treatment Centre, 24 persons from the Kamburugamuwa Hospital, and 23 persons from the Kopai Treatment Centres.

A total of 87,058 persons have recovered from COVID-19 to date.

On Sunday, 9,180 PCR tests were performed and 354 COVID-19 positive persons were detected. The patients include 197 from Gampaha, 58 from Colombo, and 17 from Jaffna.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 29,312 persons from Colombo, 17,838 persons from Gampaha, 6,562 persons from Kalutara, 4,158 persons from Kandy, and 2,758 persons from Ratnapura are included in the district distribution of COVID-19 patients detected to date.
