237 persons test positive for COVID-19

The country’s total COVID-19 patient count yesterday exceeded 96,000 with the detection of 237 COVID-19 positive persons.

The patients detected yesterday include 138 associates of the Peliyagoda cluster and 21 persons from the Prisons cluster. The Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and Prisons clusters have thus expanded to 90,852 patients.

In addition to this, 3,083 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, 950 Navy personnel and their contacts, 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster, and 259 foreigners have also tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 30,426 persons from Colombo, 18,648 persons from Gampaha, 6,783 persons from Kalutara, 4,263 persons from Kandy, and 3,039 persons from Ratnapura have tested positive for COVID-19 to date.

The total number of COVID-19 patients detected in the island is 96,186 and 2,852 persons are currently under medical care. The active patients include 195 persons from the Kopai Treatment Centre, 158 persons from the Dambadeniya Treatment Centre, and 125 persons from the Giriulla Treatment Centre.

Hospitals also have 305 persons suspected of having COVID-19 under observation.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 303 persons, including 150 persons from the Kopai Treatment Centre, were discharged from hospitals yesterday. At present, 92,611 persons have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.

The Health Promotion Bureau states that 4,024 PCR tests were performed on Thursday.
