Sri Lanka’s retail industry comes together to identify new trends and map out new strategies at its premier knowledge event, Sri Lanka Retail Forum 2018, which is to be held 17 and 18 October at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo. Sri Lanka Retail Forum provides a valuable opportunity for networking and collaboration in the retail industry.

The Forum is organised by Sri Lanka Retailers’ Association and will feature four thematic sessions, with 18 resource persons, nine of which are foreign experts who are presently in the regional retail conference circuit and seasoned in the global retail ecosystem. This provides the forum a balanced perspective, with insights on international retail trends to Sri Lankan retailers.

The second session of the Retail Forum will focus on “Driving Tomorrow’s Retail Today”. The experts that will share insights and lead discussions at this session are Daraz Sri Lanka Country Manager Bart van Dijk, Zmessenger Ltd. CEO Jayomi Lokuliyana, Takas.lk CEO Lahiru Pathmalal and Loops General Manager Wasaam Ismail.

Session 2 will reach beyond the role of social media in driving retail, and will delve into how organisations can scale an effective digitisation strategy in response to a dynamic and evolving industry and consumer. Whilst new technologies are transforming the industry, therein lies the opportunity for Sri Lanka’s retailers to understand the role of tech, to innovate, integrate and position themselves in order to become futuristic and strive to outperform global competition.

Other sessions at the forum will focus on areas such as reshaping customer engagement, new models to overcome complacency in the industry, and an overall view of where retail in the region is heading. This wide range of discussion brought by the Retail Forum are timely to the current issues faced by Sri Lanka’s retailers.
