Fiona Munasinghe wins Gold Award for Marketing among Top 50 professional and career women in Sri Lan

Women in Management (WIM) in partnership with IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has presented Fiona Juriansz Munasinghe the Gold award in the ‘Marketing’ category at the 2017 ‘Top 50 Professional & Career Women Awards’ presented in Colombo last week.

Now in its seventh edition, the ‘Top 50 Professional & Career Women Awards’  celebrates the achievements of remarkable women who inspire those around them through their astounding achievements in their careers, businesses and everyday lives.

The awards presentation held at the Taj Samudra Hotel was graced by the opposition leader, ministers, members of parliament, diplomats, professionals in businesses and the public service, women leaders from various industries and the Inspector General of Police. The awards were presented in several categories including Public Sector, Private Sector, Entrepreneurship, Media, Advertising, HR, Marketing, Finance and CSR.

Currently General Manager Marketing at Hemas Consumer Brands, Munasinghe was nominated by her employer for the award. She heads a team of Brand Custodians overlooking three of the largest and most competitive categories in which Hemas operates as well as one of the company’s future growth categories.

“It is a great honour to be named one of the top 50 professional career women in Sri Lanka,” Munasinghe said, commenting on the prestigious WIM award she received. “As a passionate marketer and brand builder, it is pleasing to be acknowledged as a leader in my chosen profession and humbling to be recognised at the same forum as the amazing women who were recognised for their contributions in their respective fields. I would like to thank WIM for the amazing work they are doing and my husband Hasrath, family, workplace Hemas and my team at work who encourage and inspire me every day. I encourage women to reach for the stars and families and workplaces to acknowledge the numerous roles women play and the amazing value that they can bring to the table.”

Munasinghe is a mother of a three year old son and holds five academic and professional qualifications in the fields of Marketing, Business Management and Management Accounting including a BSc(Hons) in Business Management from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK. She is a Chartered Marketer with a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK, a Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) of the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF), Singapore and a graduate and Member of Chartered Management Accountants (CMA), Australia.

In her career as a marketer she has worked on both multinational and local brands and been the brand custodian of some of Sri Lanka’s most popular and well-loved brands. Her work experience encompasses more than eight product categories and over 10 brands in the wellness and FMCG spheres.
