Interbrand, the world’s largest and most influential brand consultancy, has announced the appointment of Borja Borrero, Chief Creative Director at Interbrand for EMEA (Western Europe) and Latin America to lead design operations for the India and Sri Lanka markets.

“This is an important milestone for the Sri Lankan market,” said Michel Nugawela, head of Interbrand Sri Lanka’s office. “Borja’s appointment elevates the standard of brand design in the region to global benchmarks. It’s a privilege to work alongside a member of Interbrand’s global team, and share that remarkable experience with our clients.”

“Interbrand India and Sri Lanka are the youngest within the global network, but both are evolving rapidly,” said Ashish Mishra, Head of the Interbrand India office. “We have the top branding assignments on our showreel and our engagements with the leading brands in both countries easily make us the premier brand consultancy in the subcontinent. Borja’s appointment will facilitate even further growth in our markets.”

Speaking on the transition Borja Borrero said, “The Indian subcontinent has evolved enormously and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and learnings with the India and Sri Lanka teams and our important clients in both markets.” Borrero has led brand projects of global impact including the repositioning and historic change of Thai Airways and Iberia Airlines. Other global brands include Repsol, Renault, Carrefour, Juventus, the merger of LAN and TAM, and, most recently, Santander Bank.
