CIM Sri Lanka celebrates academic achievements at 26th graduation ceremony

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka, concluded its Graduation and the Membership Investiture 2018 recently. 

The event was graced by University of Colombo Vice Chancellor Professor Lakshman Dissanayake. This year’s 26th graduation ceremony recognised 272 students who completed their Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing during April, July and December 2017 and in April and July 2018. One World Prize Winner and 14 Sri Lankan Prize winners were felicitated while 13 Members (MCIM) were inducted at the event. 

Congratulating the graduates, CIM Sri Lanka Chairman Brian Selvanayagam said: “Growth is never by chance; it is the result of us working together towards continuously engaging and strengthening the industry. I urge all our graduates and members to remain engaged with CIM Sri Lanka, to unite and work towards its growth and sustainability of our esteemed organisation.” 

Addressing the gathering University of Colombo Vice Chancellor Professor Lakshman Dissanayake noted: “The knowledge and skills, you acquired so far, will have to be rigorously applied with your thinking and reasoning skills and your emotional competencies. Embrace challenges and forge ahead. Find your purpose and take your share in shaping the new world. Make CIM proud, through your contribution, especially by being hard working, innovative, committed and ethical in your future work and leadership.” 

CIM Sri Lanka Head of Education Rajiv David presented the Education Report for 2017/2018 which consisted of activities such as student development, new registrations, career guidance exhibitions and new initiatives. 

The CIM Sri Lanka is the first international branch of CIM UK and comprise the largest number of members, both professional and students of CIM outside the UK. The regional institute has always campaigned for greater recognition and excellence in the marketing profession in Sri Lanka, through education, training and development.
