CMA conducts certificate program on ‘Strategic Corporate Sustainability’

A one-day certificate program on ‘Strategic Corporate Sustainability’ was conducted by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) on 4 March at the CMA Auditorium. 

The certificate program was inaugurated by CMA President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and was conducted by INSEAD Business School (France) and PIM Visiting Faculty Member Dr. Ravi Fernando.

Dr. Fernando in his presentation mainly focused on the following areas ‘Reality – The Climate Emergency’, ‘The Challenge – Strategic Corporate Sustainability and TBL mind sets’ and ‘The Opportunity to Embed Strategic Corporate Sustainability and Climate Emergency in Corporate’. 

The program concluded with a group assignment and presentation where the participants were divided into five groups where every participant developed a draft ‘Climate Emergency Strategy’ to be part of their ‘Corporate Strategy’.

Participants hailed from various sectors from banking, insurance and finance, manufacturing, IT and public sector. Group No. 4 representing Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, Expolanka Holdings PLC, National Development Bank and BOI were recognised as the winners for their unique, innovative and practical ideas.

CMA Member S.P. Peris from Citibank and Sabrina Yusoof from Expolanka Holdings PLC appreciated Dr. Ravi Fernando for his presentation and received a bouquet for his commitment and dedication and also thanked CMA for organising this program.

Prof. Watawala thanked Dr. Fernando and the participants and certificates were awarded to participants.
