Access Engineering PLC (AEL), the foremost civil engineering enterprise in Sri Lanka, has secured the 19th position for transparency in corporate reporting among the top 50 listed companies in Sri Lanka.

The first-ever assessment of transparency in corporate reporting was launched by Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) by analysing companies reporting practices through publicly available information.

Three different thematic areas related to corporate reporting were taken into consideration: the anti-corruption mitigation procedures, transparency in reporting on organisational structure, and the key financial data disclosed on national and transnational operations. The interpretation was conducted for the top 50 listed companies on Colombo Stock Exchange based on the market capitalisation ranking as at 28 February 2019.

The ranking received by AEL validates the effective disclosure of anti-corruption and transparency measures taken, which in turn drives AEL towards achieving greater excellence in good corporate governance and mitigating the risk of corruption. AEL ensures necessary measures and precautions are taken to mitigate any negative impacts that would arise from its operations towards the society and environment.

As a result, AEL was consecutively appraised as one of the 10 best corporate citizens in the country by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce over the past successive years emphasising the authentic efforts of AEL as one of Sri Lanka’s premier engineering entities.

With increasing emphasis being placed on transparency in operations, good governance, sustainability and social responsibility; AEL provides a holistic view of the value creation process which outlines the short and long-term strategies, governance, performance, and the company’s efforts taken towards creating tomorrow’s heritage through value engineering procedures.
