Celebrating 14 years of entertainment with Gold FM

Gold FM celebrated 14 years of being pioneers in the Sri Lankan radio industry on 19 September. With the launch of a brand new concept of radio in 1998, Gold FM was the first 24-hour Sri Lankan radio station to fill the void in golden oldies music from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, with an hourly comprehensive news bulletin.

Speaking of the station’s achievement, Asia Broadcasting Corporation Chairman Rayynor Silva said, “Gold FM has held the number one position among English radio channels in Sri Lanka for a number of consecutive years. Our aim is to consistently evolve our programming to ensure only the best of entertainment for our listeners.”

Over the past 14 years, Gold FM has brought their listeners the best in music and live entertainment with legendary artists from the 60s and 70s, such as Billy Ocean, Leo Sayer, The Drifters, The Supremes, The Platters, Boney M and Sir Cliff Richard.

Gold FM has become a household name not only on the island but across the world on their webcast www.goldfm.lk, reaching homes and workplaces on 99.9FM in Colombo and Kandy, 104.2FM island-wide, 102.7 FM North Central and 94.7FM down South.

Waking you up every weekday morning from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. are Tom Hart and Graham, two witty and heartwarming radio personalities with a unique sense of humor, belting out the best selection of oldies to get you pumped up for the day. Next in is the vibrant Keiko on the Gold Request Show, followed by Monique and Shafi on the Afternoon Breeze with three hours of smooth tunes to exhilarate you.

Joe Spencer and Kirk take the listeners home on the ‘Evening Drive’ with three hours of the best music to take away the stress of the day on the long drive home.
