Holi at Paradise Beach!

Originating from the Indian subcontinent, Holi is a festival of culture, colour and celebration. The festival is significant for the arrival of spring and has become a popular festival.

‘Holi on the beach’ was held on Saturday 23 March. COLIND, an association of Indians living in Colombo collaborated with Mount Lavinia Hotel for a day of colourful merriment at the haven under the sun – Paradise Beach. The event was patronised by a number of expats and locals as well. Attendees took to the dance floor as the Bollywood music played and keeping in line with the event’s tradition a vibrant display of smearing took place. 

From Dhol drummers to rain dances and an exceptional selection of Indian food, participants of this year’s festival would say it was nothing short of memorable. In addition to the ceremonious splendour of colour and fun, this year world renowned mixologist Anthonio and a team from Italy flew down adding some flair with special cocktails.
