D Tech Ltd., a leading enterprise solution provider in Sri Lanka and a member of the DSI Samson Group, has successfully launched Spexbay (www.spexbay.com), an online store that specialises in eyewear.

The Spexbay online store offers the latest fashionable sunglasses and spectacles for men, women and children as well as contact lenses, accessories and gift vouchers for an affordable price. Ordering online on the site is a simple three-step process. First, users can browse hundreds of products and choose the required style of sunglasses or spectacles. Next, they can insert the power type based on the prescription. Lastly, after filling in some basic information the order is confirmed via secure online payment.

Users can make payments via VISA and MasterCard credit cards while American Express credit card payments will be launched in the near future. Additionally, users can pay by utilising some Sri Lanka’s leading mobile payment methods as well as via Cash on Delivery. Orders are delivered islandwide within a few days from order confirmation.

The Spexbay online store is designed and developed using Magento 2, one of the world’s leading enterprise-class eCommerce platform, utilised by thousands of online retailers across the globe. Magento 2 offers an array of flexible tools that cover all advanced marketing, SEO and catalogue-management requirements of an online store. Under Phase 2 of the project, D Tech intends to tap into their expertise in Augmented Reality (AR) and introduce an innovative feature that allows a user to utilise the computer’s web cam to upload his/her photo to the Spexbay website in order to match the perfect pair of sunglasses or spectacles to his/her face.

Headquartered in Colombo 2 and with its Sales and Service Center located in Colombo 5, D Tech has built a strong reputation as one of the most reliable providers of end-to-end ICT solutions in Sri Lanka having successfully completed many signature projects both locally and internationally. D Tech specialises in a wide variety of IT and business related services including Business Intelligence, Augmented Reality Solutions, Networking and ICT Infrastructure, IOT Smart Building Solutions, IT Consultancy and Project Management Services.

Commenting on the project, D Tech Chief Operating Officer Sanharsha Jayatissa stated, “Spexbay Ltd. wanted the best in the business for the design and development of Spexbay Online Store and we were up against some of the best web development companies in Sri Lanka. Therefore, it gives us great pride to have won this prestigious project after some stiff competition. A number of the key features and functionalities that the client requested could only be done using Magento 2. As one of only a few web development companies in Sri Lanka with expertise in Magento 2, we were certainly at an advantage.”

D Tech Project Manager (Spexbay Project) Kusal Dissanayaka stated, “We managed to beat some top companies to win this project. It was very easy to work with the Spexbay as they knew exactly what they wanted to achieve from the project. Although the deadlines were challenging we worked as a team and managed to deliver the project on time and meet their expectations.”

Spexbay Ltd. Manager, Business Development Sameera Bandara stated, “We called for proposals from several leading web design and development companies in Sri Lanka. We found D Tech’s proposal to be the most impressive due to several reasons. They are using some of the latest technology, such as Magento 2, and also hosting on Microsoft Azure servers. They were very professional in their approach and grasped the scope of the project quickly. Their design and development was top notch and they have provided us with a world-class solution that meets all our requirements.”
