Are university students above the law?

A fundamental principle of a liberal democracy is that no one is above the law and that all are equal before the law. How then have the authorities who are in charge of law enforcement in the universities excluding the Police from entering the universities to discharge their duty of law enforcement on the understanding that they would do so failed to take action?

The university authorities should enforce the law against the students who have committed violations of the law or call upon the Police to enter the university and discharge this function.

Don’t allow the university students who are future leaders of the country to take the law into their own hands or assume that the law does not apply to them in the universities because they are closed societies – for they are closed only for carrying out the academic functions and not for crimes committed within their premises.
