‘Rhythm of the Maroons’ 2013 concluded with a blast

‘Rhythm of the Maroons’ (R.O.M.) 2013 organised by the Music Circle of Ananda College successfully concluded on 9 November 2013 at the Peter de Abrew Memorial Hall at Museaus College. The Music Circle, which carries a legacy over 36 years of excellence, organised the musical fiesta R.O.M. for the 8th consecutive year. R.O.M. 2013 being the grandest orchestral musical extravaganza ever organised by a school in Asia overwhelmed the audience with its epic display of talent and the participation of several leading school choirs, dancing troupes and solo singers. R.O.M. 2013 was able to create a mark in the island by having the grand finale of VOCALIZE along with the musical fiesta itself. VOCALIZE, an inter-school musical competition which saw the participation of more than 30 schools and 500 competitors, including schools such as Lyceum International School Nugegoda, Sirimavo Bandaranayaka Vidyalaya, Museaus College, St. Paul’s Milagiriya, Vidura College, Anula Vidyalaya, Good Shepherd Convent, Sujatha Vidyalaya, British School in Colombo and Visakha Vidyalaya, was concluded grandly, with Piyath Rajapakse (Vidura College)  being the winner of the solo category and Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena walking away with the trophy for the Best School Choir. Judges for the event and competition were Nelu Adhikari, Wasantha Geekiyanage, Nadeeka Guruge, Heshan Gamage and Jagath Priyantha. National School of Business Management (NSBM) was the main sponsor for the event; Sun FM and Hiru TV doubled as electronic media sponsors, while VOCALIZE was sponsored by iDance. Sentruno and Rhythms served as co-sponsors of the event, with chemistry tutor Charitha Dissanayaka acting as Printing Sponsor.
