Xiaomi launches 5000 mAh powered Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A in Sri Lanka

Xiaomi, global technology leader, has announced the launch of its two smartphones, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A. Redmi 8 is the latest in the popular Redmi series lineup and comes with a 12 MP dual camera setup. Redmi 8A is the latest in the Redmi A series with improvements on all fronts including an expandable memory of up to 512 GB.

Both the phones ship with a massive 5000 mAh battery, allowing users long hours of usage with every single charge. Featuring the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core chipset, Xiaomi has for the first time in the segment introduced the USB Type-C 18 W fast charging support for both smartphones. Xiaomi’s relentless focus on quality means that both these smartphones come protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, andP2i’s nano-coating makes them splash resistant.

 

Redmi 8A

With a 6.22-inch (15.8cm) Dot Notch HD+ display, Redmi 8A features an aspect ratio of 19:9, promising an immersive experience and overall ergonomics. The Aura Wave Grip design with fine, textured patterns makes for great hand feel and also reduces fingerprint marks.). Redmi 8A features a 2+1 dual SIM slot with dedicated microSD card support that allows further storage expansion up to 512 GB. Redmi 8A brings a crowd favourite in the lineup, Wireless FM, which allows users to play FM radio without connecting their earphones. .

The main 12 MP camera comes with an aperture of f/1.8, and delivers great looking photographs with a large pixel size of 1.4 μm. On the front, Redmi 8A sports an 8 MP selfie camera; both the front and rear cameras on Redmi 8A are capable of taking AI Portrait mode shots.

With an objective to provide an all-round experience for today’s multi-tasking youth, Redmi 8 comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. 64 GB allows for convenient usage without having to worry about exhausting storage space and 4 GB RAM, on the other hand, allows for seamless multitasking – a never-seen-before feature  in this segment.

Redmi 8 has an AI dual camera setup on the rear, comprising of a 12 MP primary sensor and a dedicated 2 MP depth sensor. On the front, Redmi 8 features an 8 MP camera with AI Portrait mode to enable portrait selfies.

It has a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear for convenient security and also supports AI face unlock. The user experience is further enhanced by wireless FM Radio, dual SIM dual VoLTE capabilities. Redmi 8 supports dual SIM usage with a dedicated microSD card slot (2+1 slot) further expanding the storage up to 256GB.

Availability

Priced at Rs. 17,999, the Redmi 8A 2GB+32GB will be available in Sunset Red, Ocean Blue and Midnight Black colour variants. Redmi 8A will be available starting 1 November across Mi Authorised Partners and Daraz.com.

Redmi 8 will be available in Onyx Black, Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue colour variants. The 3GB+32GB variant will be available for Rs. 21,999 and the 4GB+64GB variant will be available for Rs. 23,999 starting 8 November across Mi Authorised Partners and Daraz.com.
