  • Fazloon Sheriff to head main organising committee of INFOTEL 2019

The Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), the apex body of the ICT industry, will host INFOTEL 2019 from 1-3 November at the BMICH for the 27th consecutive year.

Fazloon Sheriff has been appointed to lead the main organising committee of INFOTEL 2019. 

He is currently the President of the Hardware Chapter and works as the Head of IT at Office Network Ltd. FITIS was set up in 1996 with the purpose of giving a much-needed focal point to the Sri Lankan ICT industry. Today it boasts a total membership of over 200 active business firms in the ICT industry. FITIS member chapters include the Software, Hardware, Education and Training Chapter, Communication Chapter, Office Automation Chapter, Professional Chapter and FITIS Women in IT.

Sheriff said that he was pleased to spearhead INFOTEL 2019 at a time Sri Lanka was aiming to build a digital nation and contribute towards a theme ‘Towards a Digital Nation’. INFOTEL 2019 will highlight the segments in emerging digital areas ranging from the digital lifestyle, smart city concept, digital service platforms, digital enterprises, IoT, robotics, start-ups, E-Marketing, E-Government, E-Health, fin-tech digital banking, career guidance and higher education. INFOTEL will kick off on 1 November with the digital leadership forum where deliberations will take place on the theme of ‘Towards a Digital Nation’ by an international expert with business leaders in the private sector and in the afternoon the forum will focus on the public sector. The leaders who will be attending this session will have an opportunity to experience digital solutions which can be implemented in their organisations and conduct business-to-business meetings.  INFOTEL 2019 will attract over 150 trade stalls, 10,000 students, 8,000 teachers and an anticipated 50,000 members of the public.
