The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) is calling for applications from companies with cutting-edge technologies to join its delegation to Japan IT Week 2020 from 8-10 April.

More than 30 companies have been assisted by the EDB, where delegates had opportunities to meet with global investors and experts, learn about the latest industry trends and explore commercial partnerships while gaining tech know-how which offers vital support for them to expand their businesses in the Japanese market.

As a result, there are Sri Lankan ICT and Business Process Management (BPM) companies that have opened branches in Japan and entered joint ventures with and won prospective deals from Japanese firms.

This year, EDB will once again participate in Japan IT Week 2020, which will be held from 8-10 April in Tokyo, Japan. It is the world’s leading ICT and BPM focused exhibition which provides a myriad of opportunities for professionals, vendors, service providers and customers to meet exhibitors from across the world and develop profitable business relationships.

In line with the Sri Lankan Government’s continuous efforts to foster an export-driven economy, especially though adaptation and innovation, the EDB has organised the Sri Lanka pavilion at Japan IT Week for five consecutive years since 2015.

This year marks the 29th edition of the event and organisers stated that it would attract 89,000 visitors and 1,490 exhibitors from around the world.

Sri Lanka’s ICT and BPM solutions providers are no strangers to Japan’s IT sector, with many Sri Lankan companies already providing software, mobile, big data and other solutions to leading Japanese companies such as Hitachi, Fujitsu and Canon IT Solutions. These lines of business have generated considerable export revenue for Sri Lanka, with Government initiatives such as the mission to Japan IT Week expected to earn further revenue for the country.

The EDB has organised a number of workshops and client engagements within the Japanese market with the intention of promoting the Sri Lanka ICT and BPM sector in Japan and vice versa. This is also an effort to clear the doubts of most Sri Lankan companies within the Japan market and encourage them by sharing tips on how to successfully win business deals in Japan.

The EDB, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan, is organising the Sri Lanka Pavilion and Country Seminar for the sixth consecutive year with the participation of 10 ICT and BPM companies interested in starting business with potential Japanese clients.
