The SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021 (formerly known as SLASSCOM Innovation Awards) is being held for the third consecutive year in celebration of the greatest innovations in the field of IT in Sri Lanka. A major highlight of this year’s event is the notable inroads to provincial level with an all-new competition, ensuring that local talents are identified from the grassroots in the society while providing equal opportunities for all Sri Lankans to be rewarded for their innovations. Besides that, the winners of the provincial competition will be recognised from the provincial level itself, setting up the platform for them to reach the national level.

This all-island competition opens doors for students from universities and schools to earn a national level recognition and mentorship opportunities to work with IT industry experts and gain hands-on industry experience, which bode well for their future, grooming them as IT professionals with assured career pathways. Apart from the University/School categories, the competition has set the stage for individuals, businesses, SMEs, Startups, covering each and every segment of the society.

Commenting on the Awards, SLASSCOM Regional Development Forum Head Dilan Rajapakse said, “We have built this platform to recognise and showcase innovative IT solutions and talent from all parts of the country. This is the only such platform where University and School students, start-ups and corporates from all provinces of Sri Lanka can take part, compete and be recognised at Provincial level and National level.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all innovators and disruptors from across Sri Lanka to be recognised in their own province as well as on the national stage. This opportunity is not only created for corporates but also for startups, undergraduates and even school students to showcase their innovations. Being recognised on this platform will no doubt open up great opportunities for the participants which will in return create a great impact to the eco-system and the IT/ BPM industry,” said SLASSCOM Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forum Alternate Head Charindra Wijemanne.

“The winners of this competition will not only be recognised for their ingenuity, but they will also have the opportunity of being mentored by some of biggest names in the IT/BPM industry.
