11th National Conference on Cyber Security on 7 November

The 11th edition of the National Conference on Cyber Security is all set to be staged to share insights on key security topics covering local, global, commercial and personal perspectives, while understanding emerging technologies and the security issues pertinent to those technologies.

Being the flagship event of the Cyber Security Week 2018 program co-organised by Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team | Coordination Centre (Sri Lanka CERT|CC), Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and Telecommunication, Digital Infrastructure Ministry; the conference is scheduled to be held on 7 November tilted ‘National Importance of Cyber Security’ at Hilton Colombo.

The conference attracts a large number of eminent local and international speakers, creating a unique platform where like-minded individuals with a special interest in information security to forge alliances, share knowledge and experience and build consensus on security issues of the day.

In addition to the main conference, the summit has three other associated specialised workshops on Android Mobile application Security Hands-On, Network Forensics Analysis Using Wireshark and Incident Response and Internet Security, which will be held at Distance Learning Centre at SLIDA, Colombo 7. 

The Android Mobile Application Security Hands-On workshop will be held on 5 November will concentrate on key areas such as Android mobile application security, enabling participants to learn and perform android mobile application security risk assessment and penetration testing, determine the mobile application security vulnerabilities, practice real-world mobile application hacking techniques including vulnerability exploitations and gain technical skills to fix mobile application vulnerabilities. It will also allow participants to gain knowledge on secure mobile application development, testing for security with hands-on experience.

The Network Forensics Analysis Using Wireshark workshop will be held on 6 November, where it will focus on how to use Wireshark to capture, filter and analyse network traffic anomalies. 

The workshop on Incident Response and Internet Security will be held on 8 November. The main goal of this workshop is to provide learning opportunities to increase preparedness of organisations in dealing with security issues or incidents and to secure their internet identifiers and the network infrastructure. The workshop will also cover internet identifier security overview, infrastructure security, routing, DNS, Demos, critical security controls, incident responses and CSIRTs, and processing threat intelligence with a mix of presentations, demos and hands on exercises.
