Wayamba University of Sri Lanka joins CFA Institute University Affiliation Program

• Students of the Banking and Finance Department are taking steps to career success through preparation for the CFA Program

Wayamba University has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. Banking and Finance Department has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. This/these program(s) position students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, which has become the most respected and recognised investment credential in the world. 

Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Wayamba University curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, Wayamba University is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.

Bachelor of Science (Special) Degree in Banking and Finance 

The Department of Banking and Finance was established in year 2001 as one of the pioneer Departments in the Faculty of Business Studies and Finance, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. It is the first Academic Department in the University System in Sri Lanka to offer a specialised Degree in the field of Banking and Finance. B.Sc. (Special) Degree in Banking and Finance is a four-year (eight semesters) undergraduate program conducts in English medium and it primarily focuses on the subject areas of Banking, Finance, Investment, Management and Economics. 

Further the degree program is designed with IT related modules in order to enhance the knowledge of undergraduate in the field of Information Technology relevant to the field of study, leading to produce exceptional personnel to the Banking and Finance sectors.
