Kaushalya Nawaratne to contest for post of Secretary, BASL

Kaushalya Nawaratne, senior Attorney-at-law who has served in the profession for over 21 years, has declared his candidature for the post of Secretary, of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) for the year 2018/2019. A well known legal counsel in the field of Civil Litigation in both original and appellate courts, Nawaratne’s practice is based mainly in Colombo, but is engaged in professional activities throughout the island. He is the President of the Colombo Law Society, which is the branch association of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka comprising the highest membership. 

Nawaratne is currently serving as a member of the executive committee of the BASL and has served as a member of the Bar Council for several years. He has contributed in many ways towards the betterment of the legal profession, as well as, to safeguard the rights of the members of the legal fraternity. 

The nominations for the said election will be called in January, 2018 and the said election is scheduled to be held in February, 2018.
