Imara De Chickera recognised with Sri Lanka Women Leadership Award

Imara de Chickera, Director of Communication at The Kingsbury, was awarded as a Sri Lankan Woman Leader for her leadership in marketing and brand building. She is a writer and experienced marketing and communications specialist with a demonstrated history of building and driving brands in insurance, FMCG, a conglomerate and hospitality. 

Skilled in marketing and PR strategy, brand identity building and strategic social media she has 15 years of experience in the field of marketing and has worked for many multinationals and blue chips such as MAS, AIA Insurance, Unilever Sri Lanka and Hayleys PLC, in senior leadership positions. An old girl of Ladies College, she holds an MBA from the University of Wales and a Bachelor’s in Arts, 2nd Upper, from the University of Kelaniya. She speaks German and French and has qualifications in Interior Design. 

The World Women Leadership Congress and Awards presents Sri Lanka’s women leaders with the Women Leadership Award in several geographic regions. The event celebrated some of the finest woman leaders and achievers in organisations which believe in producing leaders i.e. leaders of change, leaders who are iconic and foster talent management strategy alliance with the vision and the mission of the organisation This listing is intensely researched. The research cell consists of postgraduates in history and management with over five- year research experience, post their studies. 

It is the iconic job of the research cell to produce a shortlist of Individuals who are doing extraordinary work and track the record of their achievements. The shortlist is then reviewed by a Jury comprising senior professionals from across the globe. The criteria adopted in preparing this listing is; Building a Sustainable Leadership Pipeline in Organisational Story Telling, Gender specific specialisation at work Empowerment Social Change, Ability to Influence Opportunities and Resources.

The jury consists of senior leaders, researchers and academicians including some prominent names such as Arun Arora, Former President, The Economic Times (The Times of India Group), Dr. Chandan Chattaraj President – Global Human resource Suflex Ltd., Dr. Prasad Medury, Managing Partner, Odgers Berndtson India, Dr. Indira Parikh, President, Antardisha. The Women Leadership Award is endorsed by CMO Asia and World Women Leadership Congress.
