The Institute of Supply and Materials Management, the pioneer supply chain education institute established in 1972 celebrates its 46th anniversary on 23 October. 

On the invitation of ISMM President Nalin Silva the Chief Guest at the grand banquet dinner at Waters Edge Hotel will be State Minister of Finance and Mass Media Eran Wickramaratne and the Guest of Honour is Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs Secretary J.J. Rathnasiri. 

ISMM was incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 3 of 1981 and is affiliated to the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management – the world body which encompasses 45 National Associations having a membership of 250,000 supply chain professionals worldwide.

ISMM is a member of the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) since 1976 and has been playing a vital role in OPA activities. Up to now two past presidents of ISMM have served as Presidents of the OPA. ISMM is also registered under the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission (TVEC). From 2001 ISMM is affiliated to the International Trade Centre in Geneva to conduct their International Diploma in Supply Chain Management under the Modular Learning Scheme. In 2014 ISMM succeed in obtaining ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certificate from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
