Farill Farook wins TOYP award from Junior Chamber International

Motivational speaker and Leadership coach Farill Farook recently clinched the prestigious Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the year (TOYP) award for the category Moral and/or environmental leadership organised by the Junior Chamber International(JCI). The award was presented by chief guest Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena at a ceremony held in Colombo recently. 

JCI serves to formally recognise young people who excel in their chosen fields and create positive change around the world. Since 1980, JCI Sri Lanka honoured nearly 300 individuals from all around Sri Lanka through the TOYP. The list of winners includes the cream of the decision makers and top game changers in many areas of the country. 

Farill Farook serves the community as a catalyst in leadership, motivation and personality development driving positive change and betterment to society. He has conducted over 400 workshops inspiring over quarter million individuals from students, youth, university under graduates and corporates from all walks of life across the island. In recognition for his contribution and commitment, he was also awarded a special grant from the US government to conduct Youth Leadership, Public Speaking and English education consecutively in 2016 and 2017 partnering with the American Center, Colombo. His signature workshop ‘Discover the winner in you’ is highly regarded and is based on his own formulas and success story that could be applied to any person to achieve success. 

He is product of Royal College and has completed his MSc in Business Psychology from the University of Coventry; he is also a member of the Association of Business Executive (ABE-UK). As a professional speaker and corporate trainer, Farill conducts leadership and motivational training programs partnering with local and international organisations. He is also a much sought after keynote speaker and communication coach and has coached a wide spectrum of individuals from CEO, economists, entrepreneurs, international prize winners. 

Farill commenced his career as an entrepreneur at the age 20 with three of his friends collaborating with Sri Lanka’s first incubator concept nursery. The venture included transmitting Sri Lanka’s first online elections results live across the web as well as mobile (WAP) in 2000. The company’s main focus was developing an e-learning platform which was tested, launched with a leading marketing body in South Asia and then sold to a foreign entity. Being a passionate marketer, he joined the advertising and PR industry managing key corporate accounts before moving to California with a mission to further explore opportunities and reach one’s full potential. 

Seeing great potential in the island, he returned and continued his entrepreneurial journey unveiling Colombo Things to do, an award winning travel and lifestyle magazine. His thirst for innovative ideas led him to start the project Kidz Planet, the country’s first educational and activity play centre that encompasses role play method for skills development. His experience in entrepreneurship and self-discovery led him to become a motivational speaker and leadership coach, creating hope and leverages his own passion to help people reach their highest potential and growth. He believes that each individual is capable of discovering his or her own passion to pursue a dream and make an impact and contribution to the world, if one has the right support and tools.
