Dr. Myers from Youngstown State University Ohio calls on Institute of Chemistry

One of the brief stopovers made during Youngstown State University Ohio Associate Provost International Initiatives Dr. Nathan Myers’ recent maiden visit to Colombo was the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon Rajagiriya. He was received by Prof. Sujatha Hewage Honorary Rector, Prof. S.P. Deraniyagala Dean, N.I.N.S. Nadarasa Registrar and A.M. Jayasekara Additional Registrar. Dr. Myers was also invited to address the star achievers among the recent graduants keen to pursue PhDs in US. 

The discussion with IChem was centred around placing its alumni for graduate studies, 2+2 for undergraduates, getting down recent graduates from YSU as volunteer teachers and exchange of faculty members. Dr. Myers’ visit was arranged by Scholarships for USA (SUSA) – sole representative of YSU in Sri Lanka. 

Apart from being the island’s sole recruiter who works exclusively with US colleges and universities SUSA is also credited with initiating nearly 15 international collaborations between its US partners and Sri Lankan universities both public and private. Passionately committed to assist more Lankan academics to have access to the world’s top most education and with a track record of placing over 300 students across the nation including Jaffna and Ampara, SUSA works closely with top institutes such as the Institute of Chemistry to make its alumni globally employable.
