Alumni Association of Unilever Sri Lanka to hold AGM and Fellowship on 25 Nov.

The third Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Association of Unilever Sri Lanka will be held on Saturday 25 November at Hilton Colombo Residences (Jaic Hilton Hotel) Union Place, Colombo 2, commencing at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Fellowship Dinner of the past employees of Unilever and their spouses from 7:30 p.m. onwards.

The association is celebrating its third anniversary, and was formed at an inaugural meeting held on 29 October 2014, at the auditorium of the OPA, Colombo 7.

Unilever Alumni has a membership of over 900 residing at home and abroad and the fourth edition of the Membership Directory will be published this year and distributed to the members present at the AGM/Fellowship held on 25 November. Arrangements will be made to send overseas members their copy of the directory.

The objective of the Association is to promote fellowship amongst the members and to carry out other social service projects deemed fit by the Committee. Membership of the Association is open free of charge to former management and staff categories of Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. which comprise Lever Brothers (Ceylon) Ltd., Brooke Bond, Lipton and Cey-Tea. The Association is a unique community and it is indeed a great tribute to Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. that past employees had seen it fit to form such an Association and has kept it active. Alumni Association of Unilever Sri Lanka Face Book was initiated by two former colleagues domiciled in UK, namely, Hemantha Edirisooriya and Lakshitha Karunaratna who administer same. The local administrators are Nihal Weerawardena and Asoka Weerasekera.

The current ExCom, whose term expires in December 2017 consists of; President Priyantha Kolonnage, Immediate Past President Kamal Jaimon, Vice President Asanga Karunaratna, Secretary Asita Abayasekera, Treasurer Asoka Weerasekera/Charles Samuel.

The Organising Committee has drawn up an exciting program and each participant will be receiving a gift pack with the compliments of numerous well wishers. There will be many more surprises in store and this year’s party promises to be bigger and better. We request all members to obtain their tickets well in advance from M/s. Priyantha Kolonnage, Kamal Jaimon or Asoka Weerasekera.
