The Treasure Hunt

The last 50 years has seen the emergence of nations that have prospered because of their ‘intellectual assets,’ think Japan, Korea, Switzerland, India (the ITES industry).

This is quite a contrast, given that nations once succeeded on ‘material assets,’ think Burma, Argentina (once the second richest country in the world).

‘Intellectual Assets’ is a direct result of how a country’s educational and skill development is linked to needs of the global and local market.

Therefore, Sri Lanka’s real treasure hunt should be for an educational strategy and system that will make us globally competitive.
