Sri Lanka Insurance begins contingency mode for customers’ convenience to stay abreast of COVID-19

Sri Lanka Insurance has launched a series of initiatives to provide a safe and continuous service to its customers, in support of the Government initiative to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 virus.

If customers are unable to renew their motor insurance policies, policy holders who contact SLIC offices will be granted an extended temporary cover for two weeks, the company said yesterday.

SLIC emphasised that its health and life policies also cover Daily Hospitalisation Cash Benefit, Hospitalisation Bill Settlement (Cashless and Reimbursement options), Critical Illness Cover, loss of lives due to COVID-19 related issues. Further all SLIC corporate health insurance policyholders are also covered for hospitalisation expenses incurred due to COVID-19 infection.

Keeping in line an array of payment channels are available for the policy holders to renew their insurance policies and to make premium payments. Online payment gateway – www.srilankainsurance.net, SLIC mobile App available on Apple Store and Google Playstore, Mobile Payment Facilities – Genie/FriMi/mCash/eZycash, direct bank payments facilities through Sampath Bank (092960000104), Commercial Bank (1484444444), People’s Bank (014100120112337), Bank of Ceylon (0000164657), Hatton National Bank (003010313831), National Savings Bank (100011141139) Nations Trust Bank (011106000275). 

SLIC said the Government at present is taking all necessary measures to prevent the COVID-19 virus and is providing the best care for patients in several hospitals free-of-charge. “As a socially responsible State organisation, Sri Lanka Insurance re-emphasises the importance of staying safe according to the Government and WHO safety guidelines of the COVID-19,” SLIC added.

The PCR testing for COVID-19 is facilitated at Government hospitals including National Institute of Infectious Diseases, National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Castle Street Hospital for Women, Base Hospital Mulleriyawa, North Colombo Teaching Hospital, District General Hospital Negombo, District General Hospital Gampaha, National Hospital Kandy, Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, District General Hospital Hambantota, Teaching Hospital Jaffna, Teaching Hospital Batticaloa, Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, Provincial General Hospital Kurunegala, Provincial General Hospital Badulla and Teaching Hospital Ratnapura.

Sri Lanka Insurance requests the general public to adhere to the health guidelines provided by relevant authorities to support initiatives in preventing spreading of COVID-19.
