Singhe Hospitals joins hands with HCP Consulting on mission to revitalise

Building on the strengths developed during its five years in operation, Singhe Hospitals continues to pursue its vision of providing quality healthcare to its community in the Sabaragamuwa Province. To improve Singhe Hospitals’ ability to fulfil this mission, its Chairman A.M. Weerasinghe revealed that the organisation joined hands with HCP Consulting. He remarked, “We are confident that Chaaminda, who has a proven track record especially in the healthcare sector, along with his team, will add immense value to the hospital. This will give us the ability to prosper, overcoming inevitable challenges such as maintaining profitability, without compromising on quality or creating an unreasonable burden for patients.” 

“Singhe Hospitals is an unpolished gem with great potential, and our goal is to assist the hospital in uncovering and acting on areas for optimisation,” said HCP Consulting Principal Consultant Chaaminda Kumarasiri. 

Singhe Hospitals Chairman A.M. Weerasinghe recalled that his goal when founding the hospital was to give the people of the city where he grew up, much-needed access to essential medical services, saying, “I am from Ratnapura, so I decided to build a hospital with the people in mind, to meet the need forfacilities that were not available at the time.”

As an organisation dedicated to its community, Singhe Hospitals has focused on offering amenities in the city that include world-class equipment and a caring staff. With a state-of-the-art hospital as well as a network of laboratories in different parts of the country, patients from nearby towns, and even from Avissawella, who would otherwise have had to travel to Colombo for treatment, now have a viable alternative. 

Bringing this institution to its current stature has been a collaborative effort. The Chairman acknowledged this support, stating that it would not have been possible to fulfil the hospital’s vision without the goodwill and commitment shown by the consultants and doctors to their patients and to the hospital on this journey together. His appreciation extends also to the hospital’s staff, all of whom have played a vital role in making this ground-breaking venture a success. 

The shareholders too share this service mindset, understanding that the greater mission of Singhe Hospitals is to benefit the community, rather than just make profits: “Although the business has not been lucrative in terms of our financial performance over the last few years, owing to multiple challenges we faced as a start-up in the region, we have built a loyal customer base by providing access to quality healthcare for the area. The lessons we learnt over the years have become the pillars of our future, allowing us to create greater value for our shareholders, both financial and fulfilling,” Weerasinghe added.

Developing on this, Singhe Hospitals anticipates further growth which will take its philosophy of serving beyond Ratnapura into underserved areas, giving the people of Sri Lanka access to high-quality healthcare wherever they live. Sharing his vision for the future, the Chairman reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment: “My hope has always been to offer an uncompromisingly high quality of service that will improve the lives of people. We will continue to progress, to serve them better.”
