The NuEra tight machine

  • Hospital’s Aesthetic & Cosmetic Centre becomes first in the world to introduce machine outside the US

Making great strides to revolutionise the industry of cosmetology and aesthetics in Sri Lanka, the Aesthetic & Cosmetic Centre by Ninewells recently introduced a ground-breaking machine by Lumenis for skin tightening, and face and body contouring treatments.

Known as NuEra Tight, the machine is a non-invasive radio-frequency (RF) solution proven to improve the appearance of cellulite and skin laxity, with consistent results and minimum or no downtime.

Collagen and elastin are the hallmarks of healthy and youthful looking skin which strengthens it, and keeps it smooth and wrinkle free. These proteins weaken overtime due to age, sun damage, exposure to toxins in the air and, pregnancy and weight loss; resulting in wrinkles, frown lines and sagging skin.

The NuEra Tight machine treats these indications using RF waves that heat the skin’s surface superficially and reach deeper tissue levels. Using the precise frequency and depth of heat, the machine enables the treatment of a variety of conditions on different areas of the body and face. NuEra Tight optimises treatment efficacy on the abdomen, flanks, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, upper arms, bra and back fat, as well as around the eyes, mouth, cheeks and neck.

“We are proud to be the first facility in Asia, and the first outside of the United States to introduce the NuEra Tight machine by Lumenis to our clients. Lumenis is the globally-renowned pioneer in laser and energy based technology. It is also the leader in the field of minimally-invasive clinical solutions for the surgical, ophthalmology and aesthetic markets,” said Ninewells Hospital Director Dr. Thiasha Fernando.

“What makes NuEra Tight stand out is that it uses a technology called Automatic Power and Impedance Control (APIC) to ensure safety and effectiveness. APIC gradually increases the RF power to the target temperature based on impedance detection, and then maintains it for the duration of the treatment. It delivers precise heating to the required depth, with predictable and consistent results. The treatment is effective, comfortable to give and pleasant to receive,” she added.

Launched just over three months ago, the Aesthetic & Cosmetic Centre by Ninewells became the first facility of its nature in the country to operate within the safety of a hospital premise. The centre offers a wide range of surgical and non-surgical solutions to clients that include PRP, laser hair removal, tattoo/stretch mark removal, acne and acne scar management, Botox, fillers and even hair growth treatments. Some of the surgical treatments include liposuction, tummy tuck, breast surgeries, rhinoplasty and mommy makeover.

The procedures at the Aesthetic & Cosmetic Centre by Ninewells are carried out by internationally-trained doctors and medical staff who are highly-experienced in their respective fields. They are led by Medical Aesthetic Officer Dr. Thiasha Fernando, Medical Aesthetic Officer Dr. Tuwani Wijesundara, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Yasas Abeywickrama, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Amila Siriwardana, Consultant Dermatologist and Cosmetologist Dr. Theja Deerasinghe, and Consultant Dermatologist Dr. Saman Gunasekara.
