MyDoctor.lk free health fair for women

“The prevalence of obesity, diabetics and cardiovascular diseases – leading causes of mortality, morbidity, and disability is high among women in Sri Lanka”. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NCDs kill 38 million every year around the world and around 75% of these deaths are reported from low and middle income countries, such as Sri Lanka. Cardiovascular diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes are the four main culprits behind these deaths.

Since women are more vulnerable for NCDs, making NCD prevention and management more gender sensitive is of utmost importance.

International Women’s Day, marked globally on 8 March is a time to reflect on progress made by women and themed “Press for progress”, sees the annual International Women’s Day campaign theme kick off for the year ahead and this year many groups around the world adopt and promote the campaign. The IWD campaign theme provides a unified direction to guide and galvanise collective action amongst women globally.  

MyDoctor.lk one of Sri Lanka’s leading digital healthcare platforms is hosting a free health fair for women to be held on 16  March between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DHPL auditorium, NDB-EDB building on Nawam Mawatha and will consist of free seminar, health check-ups and a health-fair.
