When it comes to yummy, organic, homemade dog food, Tayo Bear is the household name in the country. After a year of operation Tayo Bear has accumulated a steady, growing legion of patrons who all share in Tayo’s vision in providing the furry community with reliable, healthy, affordable and flavoursome dog treats and meals in stunning variety.

It’s hard to miss this quirky, crazy and unique brand’s presence on social media, on Instagram and Facebook that is adored by k9 parents and owners across the spectrum. Who’d have thought mankind’s best friends’ would have a range of foodie goodies to whet palettes that’ll have tongues and tails wagging island wide?

“There’s such a wide variety of dog treats in the market, and having to choose the right ones for your pooches can be quite tough. As a canine behaviourist, trainer and a dog mom I look for healthy, organic and tasty treats for my dogs. I generally buy human-grade treats so that I can vouch for their quality and stay far away from treats with artificial colours, artificial flavours, sugar and preservatives,” said Terunie Senanayake (Canine Behaviourist and trainer at Pet’iquette).

She added: “My doggos absolutely love the organic Peanut butter and Coconut cookies by Tayobear. Ok fine, so do I... They don’t really get to eat that many of them because I eat quite a few myself. The cookies are very light and they smell amazing! Coconut flour is a great source of protein and fibre for dogs and the peanut butter is just yum! Tayobear treats are a great way to show your furry best friends you love them.”

Adding onto Tayo Bear’s impressive portfolio and latest ventures is the opening of a special k9 retreat; an authentic Dog Café which is, let’s face it, a novel concept and to say it would be one-of-a-kind would be an understatement. We are talking about a fabulous new venue exclusively for dogs, soon to be a regular haunt where Tayo Bear’s incredible range of meals and treats will be available, doggy birthday parties and special occasions can be celebrated and a fancy place where your pooches will be safe, secure and eager to revisit it again and again!

Tayo Bear’s Doggy Café will launch on 1 October at Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.

Shanaz Fouze, the founder and proprietor of Tayo Bear, is a doggy mom herself with three outrageous and adorable dogs (Tayo, Mango and Lisa) and Goat (a cat under the impression she is a dog). She is a believer that dog owners feel that pets are a part of the family and deserve nothing but the best, not just in terms of meals but also in terms of health, nutrition and their right to socialise and have some fun.

When asked what inspired the café, this is what Shanaz had to say: “This brand has been one of my most happiest ventures… and something I’m proud of because I get to spend more time with my kids and get to spoil them with all the healthy treats I make at home and now I get to do that one thing I always loved... to take my kids to work with me.. the idea behind the café is to have a space oriented around what makes a doggy happy, a special hangout for all our furry friends.” The Doggy Café once launched will cater to dogs of every kind and every tribe, giving them a warm, home away from home that they can be their cheery, crazy and doggy selves. The café will of course also be a welcome hangout for pet parents as well, to chill, enjoy a snack and meet other likeminded pet owners.

An exciting doggy hangout that will be a fab, state-of-the-art café in the heart of Colombo 7? Launching on 1 October? With everything your dog’s ever wanted? Tayo Bear’s Doggy Café will be the hottest spot and space for your best furry friend!
