‘Yashwant Vaishnav Live in Concert’ at The Sooriya Village

The Sooriya Village Concert Series is extremely excited to present ‘Yashwant Vaishnav Live in Concert’ on Sunday 29 October from 7:30 p.m. onwards at The Sooriya Village – Artist Area for one-of-a-kind tabla recital. 

Yashwant Vaishnav, a student of Indrakala Sangeet VishwaVidhyalaya, started his basic training at the age of three, under the Guidance of his father Shri Rajendra Vaishnav and later attended a regular course in tabla from shri Hemant Sachdeva, followed by 13 years of intensive learning in tabla from Pt Mukund Bhale ji .Presently he is a student of renowned tabla player Pt Yogesh Samsi (Disciple of Ustad Allarakha khan Sahab) in Mumbai. 

Yashwant Vaishnav was awarded the highest possible achievement for child artiste known as the “BalShree Award” in 2008 by honourable President Smt. Pratibha Patil. He has been invited for presenting tabla solo performance in many prestigious concerts and has also received 1st prize in the National Level Competition organised by Kendra Vidhyalaya Sangathan in the year 2008 and 2009. 

He was awarded the Kishor Adhyata Purushkar, Sagar in 2008, and his most recent award being the 1st prize at the All Indian Radio Competition.

He has successfully presented his performance in tabla in many popular regions of classical music such as at the Ustad Allahuddin Khan Academy Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Kala Pradishat in Bhopal and ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata and many more.

The Sooriya Village, located in the heart of Colombo at No 49 Skelton Road Colombo 5, provides amenities such as rehearsal suits, a top gear recording studio, library and research services, a tech based lecture room, a restaurant with mouth-watering delights, dorms, tea/coffee/juice lounge, performance spaces and plenty of hang out area. 

Sooriya’s vision is to provide a facility for artists and art enthusiasts to nurture and explore the culture of arts delivering the best possible service and experience.

The Sooriya Village is humbled and excited to host Yashwant Vaishnav here in Colombo and to present his work to the public. He will be accompanied by Nilay Salvi on Harmonium. Entrance will be by Donation which will be collected at the entrance to the performance. All are welcome.
