‘Sinha,’ a unique dance ballet based on a historic theme, scripted and choreographed by award-winning dancer Nilan Maligaspe, was held at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in Colombo amidst a distinguished gathering. It coincided with the 24th anniversary of Nilan Maligaspe Creative Dance and Drama Academy. This year’s uniqueness in the program was the performance of the dancers who joined the academy at a very young age. The modern dance ballet, which is Nilan Maligaspe’s 13th ballet creation, was held under the guidance of the senior students while the costumes and music also focused on modern themes. Music direction was handled  by Sanjeewa Paramaanne while Pathum Weerasinghe assisted in the production and script. The Cultural Affairs Department, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Tiesh, Haros, Virtue Vision and Seya Colour were among the sponsors of the program. Nilan said he was grateful to Cultural Affairs Department Director Anusha Gokula, Deputy Director Sudheera Nilanga Withana and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Colombo (ICCR) Director Rajashree Behera for the support extended towards the success of this program
