End of a long innings for Vijaya at CTC

Vijaya Malalasekera has retired from the Board of Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC) as a non-executive director at the conclusion of the 2011 Annual General Meeting last week.

The exit marks the end of a 39 year old association for Vijaya with CTC. 

He joined CTC in October 1973 and was appointed as an Executive Director to the Board in January 1995 and from August 2005 as a Non-Executive Director.

Vijaya is currently Chairman of Bogala Graphite Lanka Plc and a Director on the Board of Carson Cumberbatch Plc and Taprobane Holdings Ltd. He holds a M.A. (CANTAB), Barrister-at-Law (Inner Temple) and Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

Following the retirement of Vijaya, the Board of Directors of Ceylon Tobacco comprises Jayampathi Bandaranayake (Chairman), James Yamanaka (Managing Director and CEO), Ariful Islam (Finance Director), Deva Rodirgo, Susantha Ratnayake, Mobasher Raza and Ariyaratne Hewage.
