The validity period of all types of visa held by foreign nationals was yesterday extended for an additional 30 days and will be valid until 12 May.

Further details on visa fee payments and endorsements will be announced soon, and the Immigration and Emigration Department has asked foreign nationals to thus refrain from visiting the visa services division, it said in a statement.

If, however, a foreign national intends to leave the country during this period, they can pay the relevant visa fee at the airport, without being charged a penalty.

In addition to this, the validity period of acknowledgements issued for visa applications already submitted will be extended until 12 May.

If a foreign national wishes to leave the country during this period and requires their passport, a request can be submitted to these email addresses, along with a scanned copy of the acknowledgement and the flight ticket:

The decision to extend visas for foreign nationals was made taking into consideration the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the country. Foreign visa holders were previously granted extensions from 14 March to 12 April.
