  • Angel Beach to distinguish itself with world-class mixology, fine-dining and luxury accommodation

Angel Beach, a first-of-its-kind hotel and family day beach club, opened its doors to discerning travellers with a promise to ‘serve good vibes’. The opening indicates that the local tourism sector – hurting from the economic impact of the Easter Sunday Attacks –is slowly but surely turning the tide and is resilient.

The property has already attracted the attention of the travel market and TripADeal, Australia’s most-awarded online travel agency when it endorsed Angel Beach, and will start offering exclusive packages to the Australian market.

TripADeal  Founder and Managing Director Norm Black stated: “Angel Beach makes Sri Lanka the New Bali and is a game changer.”

Despite the recent dip in visitors owing to the Easter Sunday attacks, Sri Lanka still tugs at the heart-strings of travellers the world over. Last year, this culminated in Lonely Planet, the world’s premier publisher of travel guides, naming Sri Lanka as the best destination in the world to visit. Such rankings places the onus on the Sri Lankan travel sector to offer increasingly novel and innovative offerings such as Angel Beach. This is a disruptor in the industry that offers a unique product and service like no other, said an industry specialist speaking to the Daily FT.

He further remarked that what makes the Hotel innovative and what makes it easier to coin the property Uber-Lux is that the guest’s stay becomes focused around the hotel and the experience the hotel can offer, with various activities a family day beach club can offer rather than just a place to sleep and eat. The property boasts 80 plus luxury day beds, and every day bed equipped with a safe so that day visitors can secure their valuables.

The property can accommodate 250 Guests at any given time, and for special events, including destination weddings, the property can host upto 500 guests.

Angel BeachChairman Sunil Peiris, who was the John Keells Holdings former Senior Vice President and Sector Financial Controller till he retired in 2016, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Fellow of the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and is a veteran in the tourism industry with a vast experience in the field.

The Management at Angel Beach clearly believe that their concept of providing a unique proposition to travellers– a service offering that world-class beach locations such as Bali and Ibiza have made a name in –is exactly what the Sri Lankan travel sector needs.

“Angel Beach is a revolutionary addition to Sri Lanka’s travel offering mix,” said Sunil Peiris. “For a country that is blessed with year-round sun and some of the world’s most stunning beaches, the lack of a family beach club-type offering was jarring – especially to the young and affluent segment. Angel Beach will fill this void,” he added.

The property designed by renowned architect Cyrille Fernando offers luxurious courtside accommodation for the discerning traveller. “Fitted with the latest amenities and contained inside beautifully designed rooms, guests can expect a cocoon-like retreat,” Peiris added.

Further, Angel Beach will also distinguish itself from other hotels in the area by offering a world-class foreign mixologist and a unique dining experience. The company plans to expand its operations to other parts of the country and build an island-wide, internationally recognised brand.
