Tourism Development DG quits within weeks

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) newly appointed Director General Chandani Werapitiya resigned from the post from last Friday.  

The resignation comes within weeks of her appointment, and the SLTDA will now advertise the post with an acting appointment in the interim.

The Daily FT learns that SLTDA Director Tourism Planning and Development Dr. Prasad Jayasuriya is tipped to be appointed as the acting Director General.

Werapitiya was a senior banking professional and before joining SLTDA she served as the Senior Deputy General Manager of People’s Bank.
