SLFP to support GR

• Formal announcement expected today 
• Decision comes ahead of maiden SLPP rally in Anuradhapura this afternoon

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will support the candidature of Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the upcoming Presidential Election, party sources said yesterday.

The official announcement of the decision will be made today.

The SLFPs decision will be a major boost to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa, whose maiden rally will be held at the Salgado Grounds, Anuradhapura, this afternoon. 

The two parties are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today as part of the agreement to extend the SLFP’s support to Rajapaksa.
