Ruwan appointed UNP Deputy General Secretary

  • Sagala Ratnayaka appointed UNP’s Foreign Affairs Secretary

 

 

The Working Committee of the United National Party (UNP) has unanimously decided to appoint State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene as the Deputy General Secretary of the party.

In addition, Minister of Ports and Shipping, Sagala Ratnayake has been appointed as the Internal Affairs Secretary of the party. Ratnayake is also the Chief of Staff of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Working Committee meeting was held at the UNP headquarters Sirikotha under the patronage of United National Party Leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Party Chairman Kabir Hashim has been entrusted with the task of preparing a strong program to face the upcoming presidential election. It has been proposed to submit the program to the party’s official Board and then put forward for the approval of the Working Committee.

The Working Committee has also discussed at length about the way the Gamperaliya program could be implemented successfully.

The Working Committee has also discussed the inefficiency of the State media regarding publicity for the development work by the Government.
