No decision to lock down the entire country: Army Chief

Army Commander and National Operation Center for the prevention of the Spread of COVID-19  (NOCPCO) Head General Shavendra Silva, yesterday announced that no decision has been taken to lock down the entire country.

Issuing a statement, General Silva said despite the rumors circulating on social media and other media, the Government has not taken any decision to lock down the country completely due to the new variety of the COVID-19 virus reported in the country.

He said the Government is paying close attention on reports and the spreading of the new COVID variant in various parts of the country.

In addition, the Government will take steps to implement the appropriate measures for the safety of the people as instructed by the health sector, the Head of the NOCPCO added.
