Karu appeals for solidarity and support from world leaders

Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday appealed to world leaders to let kindness and compassion be their guide and stop wars, lift all sanctions and barriers, and express solidarity in this time of global crisis.

“As Lord Buddha said, ‘hatred is never appeased by hatred, but only by loving kindness,’” Jayasuriya said, and appealed to all leaders to let tomorrow praise them for today’s great deeds of humanity.

“COVID-19 is now becoming the worst pandemic in the last 100 years. Its deadly journey continues, undermining all national boundaries and social and economic hierarchies,” he noted.
