Cabinet approves 10% of contract for Aruwakkalu Chinese consortium

  • Contractors’ consortium between China Harbour Engineering Company and Southwest Municipal Engineering and Research Institute of China

Cabinet last week approved the allocation of 10% of the agreed contract value amounting to $ 9,048,225.92 (Rs. 162,293,621.11) to the Chinese consortium which has been awarded the contract for the design, supply and installation/construction of the Municipal Solid Waste Sanitary Landfill Disposal Facility at Aruwakkalu.

The 10% contract value is paid to meet the contingencies arising during the construction, operation and maintenance period.

The contract has been awarded to a consortium between China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) and the Southwest Municipal Engineering and Research Institute of China (SEMEDRIC).

Cabinet approval to this was given on a proposal made by the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka.
