CHEC Port City backs inaugural Best Sri Lankan Brands Awards

Port City Colombo, leading a major transformation of Sri Lanka’s commercial capital Colombo as a world class city for South Asia, has come forward to support the inaugural Best Sri Lankan Brands Awards scheduled for 11 December.

Interbrand, the world’s largest and most influential brand consultancy, in exclusive partnership with the Daily FT, will introduce Best Sri Lankan Brands, an extension of the former’s world renowned Best Brands list.  The ranking, which identifies the most valuable brands in Sri Lanka, is modelled on Interbrand’s prestigious Best Global Brands annual report, the definitive guide to the world’s 100 most valuable brands. Accordingly, Best Sri Lankan Brands will be evaluated on Best Global Brands methodology.

CHEC Port City Colombo Ltd. believes the Best Sri Lankan Brands annual initiative is a major breakthrough for Sri Lanka, at a time when the country is repositioning itself regionally and globally to attract international investors and companies. In that context, CHEC Port City is excited to support the initiative as Gold Partner.

The pre-launch of Best Sri Lankan Brands was held on 30 November at Hilton Colombo with a breakfast forum for Chief Marketing Officers and Chief Financial Officers. The event focused on what it takes to become a global brand. The gala awards ceremony will be held on 11 December at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Colombo. 

Established in 1974 and an opinion leader in the field of value-based brand management, Interbrand was the first brand consultancy to recognise the significance of a brand as a business asset and introduce the brand valuation concept and methodology. 

Interbrand’s Best Global Brands methodology valuates each brand’s financial performance, role, and strength through a five-step Economic Value Added methodology, which is also the first of its kind to be ISO-certified.
