Beat the traffic by using boat service

• Megapolis and Western Development Ministry launches boat service from Union Place to Fort today 

Commuters can take a boat service which will be in operation along the Beira Lake from Union Place to Colombo Fort from today, which will be operated by the Megapolis and Western Development Ministry.

Passengers can avail themselves of the service free-of-charge for the first month. Navy officers will be deployed to assist in the operation of the boat service, which will have safety measures, the Ministry assured.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said the service will be managed by the Land Reclamation Authority, and is expected to assist in reducing traffic congestion in Colombo.

The Ministry pointed out that the public can travel from Colombo Fort to Union Place within 10 minutes, instead of spending almost 30 minutes through other means of transport.
