August Maha season fertiliser deal goes to two firms

Cabinet has given approval to award the contract for the supply of fertiliser to Ceylon Fertilizer Company (Lak Pohora) and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Company Ltd. (Commercial Pohora) for the August 2020 Maha Season to Midgulf International Ltd. and Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises.

Midgulf International got the contract to supply 60,000 metric tons of urea (granular) at $ 241.9 per MT while Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises got the contract to apply 15,000 MT of triple super phosphate at $ 239 per MT.

The companies were chosen after international competitive bids were called for the procurement of fertiliser and the decision to award the tender was based on the recommendations given by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee.

The Cabinet proposal was presented by the Minister of Mahaweli, Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development Chamal Rajapaksa.
