Livewire of Ceylinco Insurance PLC Ajith Gunawardena has been appointed as the Executive Chairman and CEO with effect from 1 June.

The move follows the retirement of veteran marketer Godwin Perera from the Board and as Chairman.

Gunawardena was previously Managing Director /CEO. Ceylinco also announced the appointment of former People’s Bank CEO and General Manager Vasantha Kumar to the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director from 1 June. Ceylinco Life’s livewire R. Renganathan has been appointed as Non-Executive Deputy Chairman. He is also Chairman of Ceylinco Life. Gunawardena joined the Ceylinco Group in 1978 as a Sales Manager, attached to the Polonnaruwa Branch of The Finance, speedily rising to the position of Assistant General Manager – City Office. He was appointed Director in charge of the General Division of Ceylinco Insurance in 1987.

Renganathan was the Managing Director / CEO of Ceylinco Life insurance Ltd. till 14 November 2018.

Vasantha Kumar holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Diploma in Professional Treasury Management. He joined People’s Bank in March 2001, prior to which he served as Treasurer at ANZ Grindlays Bank, Colombo. He retired from People’s Bank last month.
