The NCE has the first ever woman president appointed for the tenure of 2020/21, where the chamber is steered by the abled leadership of Ramya Weerakoon, who is one of the prominent apparel exporters of Sri Lanka.

Further the NCE has established a special ‘Women’s’ Wing’ to assist the women-owned and women-led businesses, in the export sector, as the chamber membership consists of many women-owned and women-led export enterprises.

The NCE Annual Export Awards, which is a prestigious awards ceremony in the country also reserves a special award for the “Best Women Exporter”, with a view to encourage women in exports. Therefore, the partnership between WEG and NCE is expected to be mutually beneficial to both organisations, especially where the women in export business will be able to reap the benefits.
