University of Kelaniya welcomed into CFA Institute University Affiliation Program for 2nd time

• Students of Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Financial Engineering taking steps to career success through preparation for the CFA Program

University of Kelaniya for the second time has been welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Financial Engineering (B.B. Mgt Honours in Financial Engineering) has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program.  

This program positions students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, which has become the most respected and recognised investment credential in the world.

This is the second degree program from Department of Finance from University of Kelaniya that has achieved this status while the first degree program was Bachelor of Business Management Special Degree in Finance which achieved the affiliated status few years back.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the market place that the following two degree programs of University of Kelaniya B.B. Mgt Honours in Financial Engineering and Bachelor of Business Management Special Degree in Finance curriculum are closely tied to professional practice and are well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, University of Kelaniya is eligible to receive a total of 11 student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.

Established in 2011, the Department of Finance of University of Kelaniya offers four undergraduate programs; B.B. Mgt (special) degree in Finance, B.B. Mgt Honours in Financial Engineering, B.B. Mgt Honours in Banking and B.B. Mgt Honours in Insurance. 

The undergraduate programs of Department of Finance provide students with a comprehensive formation through relevant courses complemented with strong technical, analytical and management skills to understand the business environment. 

B.B. Mgt Honours in Financial Engineering, introduced in 2016 can be studied full-time by the internal students and enrols 50 students each year by a special intake. The degree is specialised in the areas of quantitative finance, finance and economics with required knowledge on risk management, financial model building and product development.
