Sarvodaya Development Finance (SDF), a licensed finance company approved by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, has entered into an agreement with MegaPay Ltd. Under this partnership, SDF will deploy Point Of Sales (POS) machines provided by Pay&Go, a product of MegaPay, to Sarvodaya Shramadana to empower the society activities at village level.

Resultantly, authorised Sarvodaya Shramadana Society officers will now be able to visit the customer’s home, office or business premises to collect payments such as utility bill payments. This allows the customer to save time and money, as there will be doorstep services. The increased face-to-face interactions will also serve to enhance communications and build stronger relationships between the officers and the customer base.

Operating under the brand name ‘Pay&Go’, MegaPay Ltd. was set up to provide customers a fast, convenient system for making financial transactions in the form of bill payments such as electricity and water bills, mobile telephone bills, and cable TV bills. MegaPay has grown to become one of Sri Lanka’s leading payment service providers offering an innovative, reliable, convenient, safe and easy bill payment system.

Expressing his opinion on the partnership, Sarvodaya Development Finance CEO Nilantha Jayanetti stated, “It is important that we deploy new technology in order to uplift the lives and bring convenience to society at large. We are proud to have joined up with MegaPay to offer these customers the opportunity to pay their bills in the comfort of their home or office. We are confident that such a doorstep service will make a world of difference to these individuals, as they don’t have to spend time travelling to SDF branches in order to carry out their transactions. This means more time spent with their families and growing their businesses.”

Sarvodaya Development Finance (SDF) is the development finance arm of the Sarvodaya Movement, one of Sri Lanka’s largest and most respected not-for-profit organisations. Sarvodaya Movement is a leading people’s organisation in Sri Lanka with a history of 60 years’ operating in more than 5,000 villages currently in the country.

Guided by the principles of the Sarvodaya Movement, which is based on the value of empowering rural and village communities, SDF has nearly 30 years of committed history in providing development finance services across Sri Lanka, serving through 30 branches and 21 service centres. While remaining in development finance, SDF has now expanded into SME business, leasing and other ancillary finance businesses.
