Sampath Bank unveiled Personal Foreign Currency (PFC) Accounts with the fastest on-boarding process for foreign currency accounts in the country. This is part of the bank’s continued efforts to leverage technology to deliver greater value and convenience to all Sri Lankans to help them get closer to their goals.

To open a Personal Foreign Currency Account with Sampath Bank, customers now simply need to fill in their personal information online by visiting the e-enrolment page on the bank’s website or by scanning the Personal Foreign Currency Account QR code at any of Sampath Bank’s 229 branches across the island.

After entering their data online, they just need to produce their NIC or passport at any Sampath Bank branch. The bank’s representatives will swiftly scan the documents, get the customer’s photograph taken and issue a debit card for the newly opened account, all during a single, short visit to a branch.

“At Sampath Bank, we have always appreciated the contributions of the innumerable Sri Lankans working abroad and are constantly looking for more ways in which we can leverage our strengths to deliver greater value to them. In line with this, we are delighted to upgrade the on-boarding process for our Personal Foreign Currency Accounts, making them the Foreign Currency Accounts that can be opened the fastest in the country. This will allow customers to open their account swiftly without having to spend extended hours at a branch. Going beyond superior convenience, the accounts also offer a host of benefits and privileges that are designed to help customers get close to their goals. We invite all Sri Lankans to take a step forward towards realising their dreams through this service,” said Sampath Bank PLC Assistant General Manager – Deposit Mobilisation Sanath Abhayaratne.

Accountholders will benefit from special interest rates on PFCA fixed deposits, an additional 0.25% interest on their USD Sanhinda savings account, instant loan and overdraft facilities against their foreign currency balance, freely permitted outward remittances, competitive exchange rates, foreign currency housing loans at a single digit interest rate, credit cards, supplementary card facilities for cardholders, fund transfer in any currency between PFC accounts irrespective of the account holders, and the ability to withdraw up to $ 10,000 or its equivalent in any other foreign currency notes for travel purposes.

To be eligible for a PFCA, an individual, including a minor, must be of Sri Lankan origin residing within or outside of Sri Lanka. Non-nationals on temporary visa, intending to visit or residing in Sri Lanka too are eligible to open a PFCA.
